It appears the Toronto Blue Jays have woken from their winter slumber.
Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan reports that Toronto has worked out a trade to acquire versatile infielder Yangervis Solarte from the San Diego Padres. To this point there is no official word on what it will cost Ross Atkins and the Blue Jays management team as they continue to add infield depth, but reports suggest that Venezuelan outfielding prospect Edward Olivares will be part of the package heading to San Diego.
Solarte is coming off a bit of a down year offensively across four seasons at the big-league level. He slashed a career-worst .255./.314/.416 line, but did knock out a career-best 18 home runs.
The Blue Jays added infielder Aledmys Diaz in a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals earlier this offseason after cutting ties with Ryan Goins.
