Well, this is flat-out weird. The Jaguars have spent the hours after their upset victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers woofing at all comers, but no one has more right to strut than defensive end Calais Campbell. That’s because Campbell predicted the final score exactly.
Speaking after last week’s win over the Bills, Campbell broke down his team’s future: “We’ll do whatever it takes, we’re trying to win whatever way we can, one play at a time and executing and all,” Campbell told the NFL Network’s Pelissero. “I’ll take 2-0 if it comes our way or 45-42 if it comes our way. As long as we win, I’m happy.”
The final score of the Jaguars-Steelers game? 45-42, thanks to a Steelers touchdown with exactly one second left on the clock.
This gets even weirder when you realize that there have only been two other games with a score of 45-42 in all of pro football history. (Fun fact: the Redskins were on the losing end of both of those games, to Arizona in 1998 and Philadelphia in 1947.)
“I tell you, it just means we are on the right track,” Campbell said after the Pittsburgh victory, when informed of his prediction. “God is trying to tell me something. That was crazy.”
Now, if the Jaguars beat the Patriots 2-0, it might be time to start asking Campbell for stock tips and lottery picks.
